Farmer Awareness Program
The Maharashtra Livestock Development Board (MLDB) has initiated several farmer awareness programs to educate livestock farmers about best practices, new technologies, and government schemes.
Training Highlight:
Livestock Health and Nutrition
- Awareness camps on vaccination, deworming, and nutrition management
- Training on disease diagnosis and treatment
Breeding and Genetics
- Workshops on artificial insemination, breeding techniques, and genetic improvement
- Demonstrations of sex-sorted semen technology
Dairy Production
- Training on dairy farming practices, milk production, and processing
Government Schemes and Policies
- Awareness camps on government schemes, such as the Rashtriya Gokul Mission and the National Livestock Mission
- Guidance on subsidy schemes, insurance, and credit facilities
Digital Literacy and Extension Services
- Training on digital platforms, mobile apps, and online services for livestock farmers
- Establishment of a call center and helpline for farmer queries and support
Implementation:
These programs are implemented through a network of:
- District-level livestock offices
- Block-level veterinary dispensaries
- Village-level self-help groups and farmer organizations
- Collaborations with NGOs, private sector companies, and academic institutions
