National Artificial Insemination Programme
The Maharashtra Livestock Development Board’s Artificial Insemination(AI) program aims to improve the genetic quality of livestock in the state.
Key Features of the Program:
- Sex-sorted semen to ensure 90% female calves and more milk production.
- Progeny Testing and Pedigree Selection projects to produce high genetic merit bulls.
- Artificial Insemination services at farmers doorsteps.
- Conservation of indigenous breeds like Pandharpuri etc.

The program is implemented in collaboration with other organizations, such as the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and the Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM) .
